The Faculty of Nursing, University of Prince Edward Island has a sessional teaching opportunity in NURS 6330: Professional Issues for the Nurse Practitioner, in the Fall Semester of 2018. This position is subject to final budgetary approval
NURS 6330: PROFESSIONAL ISSUES FOR THE NURSE PRACTITIONER
This course assists the student to explain and promote the role of the nurse practitioner. It addresses political, social and economic forces related to the scope of practice, as well as system and organizational issues that may affect the delivery of care. Emphasis is placed on the legal and ethical considerations for the nurse practitioner in an extended practice environment. The skills in leadership and collaborative interdisciplinary practice necessary to perform the Nurse Practitioner role will also be emphasized.
Lecture/Seminar: 3 hours per week
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Nursing with endorsement of Primary Health Care NP or Family/All Ages certification. Doctoral preparation is preferred. Practicing Nurse Practitioners are welcome to apply.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster, and to those with experience in teaching university level courses.
