Student Affairs requires a Coordinator of the Gateway Program to oversee students, mentors and programming, and be a learning strategist. The Coordinator will be an advocate for all students while designing and implementing programs for students at UPEI.

We are looking for a creative person capable of engaging with teachers, students, parents, faculty and staff. This high-energy person needs to work as part of a larger team that assists with the department of Student Affairs and is open to ideas and feedback on an annual basis to inform decision-making

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will:

• Meet with individual students to identify learning needs and plan
• Central point of contact for students in the Gateway Program
• Develop and instruct tutorials for students
• Develop and enhance on-line programs and resources for students
• Oversee and develop Moodle sites for students
• Responsible to manage budgets and accounts essential 
• Interact with first year students and new student orientation
• Help students chose courses and program of studies
• Ensure the implementation of individualized student program plans
• Conduct evaluation of the recommended strategies on student success
• Provide training, supervision and support for student assistants and mentors
• Conduct educational workshops for faculty and staff
• Maintain confidential case records, relevant statistical data and required reporting    information
• Be a learning strategist for students in the Gateway Program
• Perform other responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will possess the following:

• Minimum Bachelors degree
• Masters Degree in Education preferred (or in progress);
• Minimum 3 years related experience working with students
• Demonstrated experience working with students in a post-secondary environment
• Experience working with students on an individual and group basis
• Experience with program development and management
• Experience writing grants and proposals an asset
• Experience with on-line learning and developing on-line learning opportunities
• Demonstrated experience with providing enhanced support for post-secondary students
• Demonstrate strong communication and empathy skills 
• Teaching experience in the following areas: study skills, time management, stress management, communication skills, critical thinking, learning styles and exam preparations
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills, organizational and record-keeping skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
