The Department of Music at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for sessional instructors to teach the following courses during the Winter 2019 semester (January—April 2019). These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

MUSIC 1170: Aural Skills II
This course builds on the foundation of Music 1150 (Aural Skills I) and is designed to strengthen fluency in sight singing and dictation while introducing more complex metrical, rhythmic, and tonal patterns.

MUSIC 2170: Aural Skills IV
This course continues the development of advanced musicianship skills introduced in Music 2150 (Aural Skills III), focusing on the consolidation of listening and transcription, sight singing and improvisation in both individual and ensemble contexts; and the development of strategies for handling complex contemporary idioms.

Qualifications:
The successful applicants will have at least a Master’s degree in Music (Doctorate preferred) plus evidence of effective teaching in aural skills at the university level.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster in the academic unit.
