Sessional Instructor - Department of Modern Languages - Faculty of Arts (Fall 2018 & Winter 2019)
The Department of Modern Languages at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a sessional instructor to teach the following courses during the 2018-2019 academic year, subject to budgetary approval:
Fall semester: September – December 2018
ML 1010 – Introduction to Irish Gaelic Language I
This course is intended for students with no proficiency in the language. This course provides an introduction to Irish Gaelic language, through the study of pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. It includes numerous oral drills, frequent written exercises, short oral presentations and simple readings. Three hours a week.
Winter Semester: January – April 2019
ML 1020: Introduction to Irish Gaelic Language II
This course is intended for students with no proficiency in the language. This course is a continuation of Modern Languages 1010. It provides further study of vocabulary and grammar and introduces aspects of civilization. Three hours a week/three hours credit.
PREREQUISITE: Modern Languages 1010
Qualifications:
Successful applicants should have relevant university degrees and enough experience in teaching Irish Gaelic as a second or foreign language at an academic college level. Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster in the academic unit.
