The Department of History and Classics at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a sessional instructor to teach the following course during 2018 Fall session. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

HIST 3530: Special Topics: Canada and the First World War
This course examines the underlying causes of the First World War, the experiences of those who fought overseas, and the impact of war on the work and lives of those on the home front. Although the course considers the international context of war, particular attention is paid to the Canadian experience of the First World War, including the conscription controversy, post-war commemoration, and the legacy of the First World War for Canadian identity, politics, and culture in the twentieth century.

Successful applicants should have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Canadian History or a related discipline, and teaching and/or research experience in addressing the First World War from a Canadian perspective.

Qualified applicants on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the Department of History and Classics will be given priority.
