The Department of Applied Human Sciences – Faculty of Science invites applications for a part-time term position as Business Development Officer. This position will report to the Margaret and Wallace McCain Chair in Human Development and Health. The individual will be involved in the business advancement of all relevant programs offered at the Patient-Centred Research Clinic at UPEI.

The PEI Strategies for Patient Oriented Research (SPOR) – Primary and Integrated Health Care Innovation Network (PIHcI Network) at UPEI will create the infrastructure for a learning/knowledge network in primary health care that will address patient oriented issues across the lifespan (i.e. child, adult, seniors). Led by a tripartite leadership team that spans the dimensions of policy, research, and clinical application, our vision is to create a vibrant and productive patient oriented research community in PEI that is linked regionally and nationally to deliver more integrated, cost-effective primary and integrated health care that leads to improved health outcomes for Islanders. Utilizing a collaborative approach to engage our partners, we will focus on innovative evidence-based initiatives that promote efficient and effective care to meet today’s challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform market research to establish new relevant market opportunities
• Identify new funding opportunities and new potential strategic partners for Clinic
• Writing proposals and research grants in consultation with the Margaret and Wallace McCain Chair in Human Development and Health and PIHcI Network Coordinator
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop sustainable long-term business strategies, concepts, and processes
• Prepare presentations and reports for dissemination to key stakeholders
• Develop project management plans and communication strategies
• In collaboration with Margaret and Wallace McCain Chair in Human Development and Health and PIHcI Network Coordinator participate in PIHcI Network budget development and ongoing oversight

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master of Science Business Strategy, Master of Business Administration, or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years relevant business experience
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
• Excellent time management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong writing, report creation, and analysis skills
