Tenure Track Position - Climate Change
Contract:

The Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of International Climate Change Policy. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

We are looking for someone to contribute to both the Department of Political Science and the UPEI’s new Bachelor of Science in Climate Change and Adaptation by teaching broadly in the areas of International Environmental Policy and Climate Change, and providing leadership in developing/promoting these areas of study and in research. The Department of Political Science at UPEI consists of seven professors, and is characterized by diverse course offerings by expert and engaging faculty with active research interests. The small and collegial atmosphere in the department provides a unique opportunity to build mentor relationships with faculty and upper year students. The small class sizes and upper year seminar classes provide an excellent opportunity to hone research, writing and presentation skills.

The new UPEI Bachelor of Science in Climate Change and Adaptation is an emerging program based in the physical sciences but encompasses interdisciplinary courses in climate change policy and international diplomacy. This new program is testing new experiential approaches to higher learning that may require teaching both on and off of the main UPEI campus.

Applicants should have:

  • Ph.D. in Political Science or equivalent
  • Broad knowledge of the field of international relations and international climate change policy
  • Demonstrated teaching ability, with particular emphasis on teaching Political Science, including at the Intro-level
  • A research record of demonstrated excellence in some area of International Climate Change Policy
  • An ability and willingness to lead the International Studies program at UPEI

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Full-time, permanent faculty receive a comprehensive fringe benefits package including group life, accidental death and dismemberment, supplemental health, travel insurance, pension, and long-term disability insurance.

Start date: July 1, 2018

Application Instructions:

Applicants should send their full curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests and experience, a statement of teaching philosophy, a sampling of teaching evaluations and the names and contact information of three references to:
