UPEI is seeking a research coordinator for the UPEI Clinic for Patient Oriented Research Clinic. The main area of research in which this individual will be responsible includes baseline and follow-up testing and programs of exercise for individuals with persistent concussion symptoms, to establish a more comprehensive return to work/play decision. The individual will be a member of the concussion research team at the university and as such will be required to discuss the outcomes of the testing with various health professionals and patients.

Additionally, the individual will be involved in developing and conducting research projects which are specifically related to the programs offered at the Patient Centred Research Clinic at UPEI. In particular the individual will be involved in health behavior and physical assessment of children and health literacy evaluation and promotion. To this end, the successful candidate will be involved in planning, implementing, analyzing and presenting elements of various research projects within the clinic.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct concussion assessments on individuals using a variety of standardized protocols and techniques specific to the Patient Centred Research Clinic at UPEI
• Analyze data using various types of software (especially SAS)
• Conduct reviews of current concussion assessment techniques
• Assist the team with project development on a variety of topics within the area of patient oriented research
• Contribute to the writing of scientific research projects for publication
• Communicate with patients and various health professionals, when and where appropriate
• Assist the clinic coordinator with the development of documents which outline patients’ progress on assessments

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Masters of Science or equivalent, with an emphasis in concussion research
• Knowledge of and ability to use statistical analysis software (i.e. SAS, Excel)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
• Strong writing, report creation and data analysis skills
