UPEI’s Office of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is a new unit reporting to the Vice President Academic and Research with a mandate to expand the range of experiential and work-integrated learning opportunities for UPEI students.   Working closely with Career Services, Co-operative Education and other members of the WIL team, the Lead Program Designer will collaborate widely with faculties, students, student support departments, community, industry and government agencies.  The ultimate goal is to develop a broad range of career development skills and experiential options to enable students to transition successfully to the next phase of their lives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Consult broadly across campus to define, identify and collect data on existing experiential learning opportunities
• Work with a team of faculty members, the Faculty Development Office and the Student Union  to create a set of experiential learning outcomes and resources
• Act as liaison and resource person for faculty who wish to incorporate experiential and WIL experiences within courses
• Develop a communications plan to promote experiential learning in consultation with Marketing & Communications
• Develop a mechanism to make information about experiential opportunities readily accessible to students so that they can incorporate WIL into their educational plan
• Develop infrastructure to connect undergraduate and graduate students, facilitating research engagement and access sources of research funding

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Master’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g.: Humanities, Counselling, Education)
• PhD would be an asset
• Experience of working in a university environment and a minimum of five years in a teaching, coaching, mentoring or leadership role; familiarity with UPEI would be an asset
• Manage the Work Integrated Learning budget
• Supervise the work of the Work Integrated Learning Student Advisor
• Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation and promotion
• Experience in designing learning outcomes and rubrics, research, data collection and evaluation
• Demonstrated experience in using emergent technologies and teaching in an on-line and blended environment
• An understanding of and sensitivity to cross-cultural experiences and educational backgrounds, and work culture in other countries
• Outstanding relationship management skills, ability to take initiative, and comfort with making presentations and interacting in groups
