Alumni Recruitment Network

The University of Prince Edward Island relies upon the support of dedicated and enthusiastic alumni volunteers. The Alumni Recruitment Network (ARN) is a network of alumni volunteers supporting the efforts and initiatives of the UPEI Recruitment Team.

ARN members are volunteers—not recruiters or salespersons. They serve as integral members of the recruitment team, extending their knowledge of the University of Prince Edward Island, and personalizing the process for prospective students.

As an ARN member, you can provide contacts or leads to the Recruitment Team; provide information to students and their families; and enhance personal contacts on behalf of UPEI. Often, it is the one-on-one conversations with prospective students about the University of Prince Edward Island that can distinguish UPEI in a prospect’s university search.

Alumni volunteers play a vital role in the admission process at UPEI. Enrolment staff can, at best, visit a given area once a year. Alumni knowledge contributes greatly to the effectiveness of national, and even international, student recruitment efforts. Alumni truly represent the University of Prince Edward Island to their local community—schools, students, civic organizations—and to the public at large. We believe that the personal contact alumni volunteers provide can be more influential than any university catalog, picture, or brochure.

In keeping with the University of Prince Edward Island’s tradition of community engagement and service, the Alumni Recruitment Network provides an opportunity for UPEI graduates to give back to the University in a meaningful and vital way, and to help build future generations of Panthers.

As part of the ARN, you will have the chance to increase the visibility of UPEI in your hometown or home province while playing a vital role in local students' university search processes.

The Recruitment Team is seeking alumni who wish to:

  • Provide contacts to the Recruitment Team to assist them in developing qualified leads;
  • Serve as local University of Prince Edward Island resources to interested prospective students and their families;
  • Attend local recruitment fairs or programs as requested, when available
  • Evaluate recruitment fairs and programs attended, providing feedback to the Recruitment Team;
  • Provide admitted students with information that will help them decide whether or not to enroll at the University of Prince Edward Island;
  • Build relationships with prospective students and serve as another resource for students interested in the University of Prince Edward Island;
  • Identify other programs, events, and opportunities where the University of Prince Edward Island’s name recognition could potentially be increased through alumni or admission officer participation.

Your perspective and insight as a UPEI graduate are valuable parts of the application process, and the interactions you have with prospective students are essential to recruitment efforts. In many cases, your interaction with a student at recruitment fair or through an informational interview may be that student's only connection to UPEI.

Please keep in mind that admission decisions are made the Registrar’s Office. Alumni Recruitment Network (ARN) members are not a part of the applicant selection process or admission committee; however, ARN members are asked to assist in the recruitment and yield of the first-year class through various volunteer opportunities.
