Now accepting Vet Camp applications

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) is now accepting applications for the 2024 Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp (AVC Vet Camps).

The four, one-week camps are offered annually in the summer and provide an opportunity for junior high and senior high school students to learn what it is like to be a veterinarian. Participants have the opportunity to work alongside faculty, staff, students, and experts in the field during a number of hands-on activities, labs, lectures, field trips, and discussions.

Although the schedule changes every year, campers traditionally participate in small and large animal physical examinations and learn about anatomy, radiology, and pathology. They will have the opportunity to perform dissections, learn how to gown and glove like a surgeon, do pet first aid, and much more.

The AVC Vet Camps are highly sought after, and the AVC welcomes participants from all over the world. Each camp has approximately 50 participants who are selected through a random lottery draw.

Students entering grades 7–9 in the fall of 2024 can apply for the following junior camps:

  • July 8–12, 2024
  • July 15–19, 2024

Students entering grades 10–12 in the fall of 2024 can apply for the following senior camps:

  • July 22–26, 2024
  • July 29–August 2, 2024
