Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for October 30–November 5 are Aiden Rainford (women’s basketball) and Jace Colley (men’s basketball).

Rainford is a fifth-year forward and arts student from Toronto, Ontario. She was a force inside and delivered strong performances on both ends of the floor, leading the Panthers to a weekend sweep over the St. Francis Xavier University X-Women at home on November 3 and 4. In the two wins, Rainford averaged 17.5 points on 66.7 per cent shooting with 12.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, and 3.5 steals.

“Aiden had her best weekend to date in the green and white. She contributed in every way on both ends and carried us to a win on Saturday,” said head coach Matt Gamblin.

UPEI men’s basketball forward Jace Colley, from East Preston, Nova Scotia, is a fifth-year business student. After the Panthers lost against a tough St. Francis Xavier squad on November 3, Colley recorded a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds to propel the team to win the following night. In the two games, Colley averaged 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks.

“Jace had a great weekend and helped us earn a big win against St. FX,” said head coach Darrell Glenn. “He has made us better with his athleticism and vast array of offensive skills.”
