UPEI Athletes of the Week: Stanley also named AUS and CIS Athlete of the Week

UPEI Athletics and Recreation announced the UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for the week of September 23-29. UPEI Athletics and Recreation showcases these talented athletes to recognize their hard work and dedication to their respective sports throughout the seasons. UPEI Athletes of the Week are also nominated to Atlantic University Sport and Canadian Interuniversity Sport for possible mention in the region and/or country.

Who: Sarah Stanley, Women's Soccer and Mathew Brenton, Men's Hockey

What: UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week

When: Week of September 23-29

Why: A third-year business student from Charlottetown, PEI, in her fourth year of eligibility, Stanley scored both game-winning goals in the Panthers weekend victories over the No. 1 AUS-ranked Dalhousie Tigers and the Saint Mary's Huskies. She is now tied for sixth in AUS scoring with three goals, all scored in this past weekend's games. Stanley was also named this week's Atlantic University Sport and Canadian Interuniversity Sport Athlete of the Week.

Brenton had a strong performance during the men's hockey 5-1 win over Dalhousie in pre-season action last Friday night at MacLauchlan Arena. Brenton had a goal and an assist, and was a key element to the forecheck. He was also strong on the power play and penalty kill. Brenton is a fourth-year business student from Stewiacke, NS.
