Nathan Keoughan performance—October 5

Bass-baritone Nathan Keoughan returns to perform at his alma mater on Saturday, October 5 at 7:30 pm in the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, UPEI. Nathan got his start in the performing world as Roy Gardner in the Prince Edward Island production of Anne & Gilbert. While spending his summers working in theatre, he studied voice at the University of Prince Edward Island under the direction of Stephen Bouey and Sung Ha Shin-Bouey. Nathan continued his studies in Boston, Massachusetts at the New England Conservatory under the direction of Maestro Stephen Lord. In Boston he had the opportunity to learn and perform such roles as Speaker & Sarastro in The Magic Flute, Pangloss/Voltaire (cover) in Candide, Figaro in La Nozze de Figaro, The Mayor in Doctor Miracle, and Le Viceroy (cover) in La Pericholé.

Nathan has just recently finished his third season at the Highlands Opera Studio as a part of their Independent Studies Program. Past HOS roles include Sarastro in Die Zaubeflöte and Colline in La Bohéme which he will reprise this October at Cowtown Opera in Calgary. Nathan is thrilled to be back at UPEI for his first recital as a guest artist. In collaboration with pianist Frances McBurnie, Nathan will perform a collection of song cycles by Ibert, Finzi, and Wolf as well as a selection of opera arias and show tunes.
