Dean of Veterinary Medicine for a five-year term, effective January 1, 2024

Dr. Griffon received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the École nationale vétérinaire d'Alfort, France, in 1989; Master of Science in veterinary medicine from the University of Minnesota in 1992; and PhD in veterinary sciences from the University of Helsinki, Finland, in 2002.

Dr. Griffon was a Professor of Small Animal Surgery, and Associate Dean, Research, in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences, California, with over 25 years of experience training veterinary students in small animal surgery. She developed and led the College’s strategic research plan that resulted in doubling of grant submissions annually and a five-fold increase in research funding over the past decade.

Her teaching and research interests include small animal surgery in various settings, didactic and online teaching, and more recently, interprofessional education. Dr. Griffon held a leadership role at Western University in the preparation of the College’s self-study for accreditation by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education. She serves currently as the Editor-in-Chief for Veterinary Surgery, the journal of the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Surgeons and of the Veterinary Endoscopic Society.
