Katie graduated from Memorial University with her Bachelor of Kinesiology Honours (Co-operative). She completed her Master of Science in the Kinesiology department at UPEI in 2014. Katie's research interests lie in both exercise physiology and psychology. Her master's research focuses on identifying the factors of physical activity that affect physical activity preference in older adults. Katie has also worked with many of the AHS faculty on a range research projects.

As the Kinesiology lab instructor, Katie creates and teaches labs for third- and fourth-year Kinesiology students in exercise physiology and biomechanics. She is also in charge of running, maintaining, and purchasing the equipment and supplies for labs and research studies.

Katie is a Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology Certified Exercise Physiologist and works with athletes, as well as healthy and clinical populations. She has a particular passion in exercise for those with chronic disease and injury. Additionally, she has taught sessional courses in the Kinesiology department in Introduction to Kinesiology and the Sociology of Sport.
