Hearing Conservation Program
The University has developed and implemented a comprehensive Hearing Conservation Program (HCP) to protect University workers from hearing loss due to occupational noise exposure.
Fortunately, noise exposure can be controlled. Every effort should be made to use quieter processes, machinery, or equipment. When engineering controls do not reduce the noise level to or below the PEI Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations permissible exposure limit of 85 dB, then applicable employees must be included in the Hearing Conservation Program.
For complete information about the program, please refer to the UPEI Health, Safety and Environment Manual.
