MTS Level 6 - Biology Lab Instructor - Department of Biology - Faculty of Science
$50,034 - $55,037 per annum, prorated to term as per CUPE 1870
January 4, 2021 until April 30, 2021 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements)
The Department of Biology of the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a laboratory instructor to be responsible for in-person or online labs in Vertebrate Zoology (Bio 3040) and Human Physiology and Pathophysiology (Bio 4010) during the Winter Semester. They might also be involved, depending on time constraints, in assisting with first year Human Physiology (Bio 1220) online labs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Helping with the set-up of Vertebrate Zoology (Bio 3040) laboratories and assisting students with technical parts of labs, including dissections; assisting the course instructor with evaluating assignments
- Helping to instruct Human Physiology and Pathophysiology (Bio 4010) laboratories, mainly case studies, providing feedback on assignments, and assisting the course instructor with evaluating assignments. These labs may be online or in-person
- Assisting with other on-line labs as needed, especially first year Human Physiology
- Other duties as assigned by the course instructors or Biology Department Chair, such as equipment maintenance and other technical support
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.Sc. in Biology, with a strong background in anatomy and physiology
- M.Sc. would be a definite asset
- Good scientific communication skills
- Good data/statistical analysis skills
- Experience instructing Biology labs
