The Athletics & Recreation Department requires an energetic, enthusiastic and sport-minded student assistant to work closely with the Men’s and Women’s Basketball head coaches to develop and launch marketing, promotional, sponsorship and season ticket strategies for 2021-2022.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in developing and creating concepts for promotional material including, flyers, social media banners and additional branding material
  • Create community connections and wider interest in varsity programs
  • Meet regularly with varsity coaches and administrative staff to review opportunities
  • Create and develop innovative fundraising initiatives and prepare to execute them along with varsity staff
  • Assist with developing season ticket marketing strategies and promotions
  • Communicate and approach local businesses to develop partnerships and promote/sell season tickets
  • Communicate with Alumni and promote fundraising and donation opportunities
  • Assist in following policies and procedures around fundraising, alumni engagement, and event planning
  • Assist with game day game initiatives and promotions
  • Assist with other department activities and initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude, dependable, energetic, courteous, with an ability to pay attention to detail
  • Confident and comfortable speaking to business executives and small business owners
  • Creative and resourceful in marketing, communications, and promotions
  • Self-motivated and able to function in a competitive environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and with other team members as needed
  • A basic understanding of graphic design for social media and Mailchimp to create promotional materials is considered an asset
  • Previous experience working with community/sport groups is considered an asset
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evenings

 

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
