The Centre for Health and Community Research (CHCR) at the University of Prince Edward Island seeks applications for the position of Research Assistant. The CHCR works closely with researchers and stakeholders from UPEI, and other maritime universities, governments, and health authorities on projects aiming to improve the health and well-being of Islanders and Island communities. Reporting to the Research Manager of the CHCR, the Research Assistant will perform various research tasks related to the completion of various projects underway at the CHCR.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Quantitative data collection (e.g., surveys)
  • Qualitative data collection (e.g., interviews, focus groups)
  • Qualitative data analysis using NVivo software
  • Perform basic descriptive statistical analyses
  • Assist with report and manuscript writing
  • Coordinate and participate in patient engagement activities
  • Assist with other research tasks as necessary (research ethics board submissions, presentations, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in social sciences or related discipline (Graduate level training would be considered an asset)
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in word processing, email, internet searching, and spreadsheets
  • Experience in and understanding of qualitative research
  • Experience conducting qualitative interviews (Experience involving patients or vulnerable populations would be considered a strong asset)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience using NVivo analysis software
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of the PEI healthcare system (experience working within the PEI healthcare system would be considered a strong asset)
