Student Research Assistant - Department of Biology - Faculty of Science
$15.75 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)
May – August 27, 2021
We are seeking a research assistant to support a variety of projects dealing with plant growth and development. Applicants should have prior experience working in a research laboratory and be familiar with tissue culture and greenhouse operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and carry out research experiments designed by PI
- Manage and conduct lab studies that include but are not limited to establish tissue culture protocols
- Manage research greenhouse, including plant material care
- Organization of data, statistical analysis, and summary of research projects is expected
Other Responsibilities
- This position will also assist undergraduate students in laboratory and greenhouse research
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor degree program in Biology
- Independent research experience (Honours) in a plant science laboratory
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute both laboratory and greenhouse-based experiments
- Good communication skills
