A UPEI student is required to work on an Avian Trichomonosis project within the AVC Department of Biomedical Sciences. The student will work primarily in the research lab performing molecular identification of avian parasites. This job is a casual position that will be up to 10 hours per week. This will include working independently on weekends in the laboratory.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The student is expected to perform parasite isolation, DNA extraction, PCR assays and DNA sequence analysis

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of at least three years of a UPEI Biology program
  • Must have good communication skills, computer skills and good inter-personal skills
  • The student needs to have good molecular skills including DNA extraction, PCR and familiarity with DNA sequence analysis
  • Experience in parasite identification and isolation from tissue samples would also be desirable
