The Faculty of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island has openings for sessional instructors to teach in the Undergraduate and Graduate programs for the Winter 2022 semester. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval.

BUS 3850-2 Special Topics: Canadian Public Administration

Canadian Public Administration will provide an overview of how the Canadian public sector works, including federal, provincial, and municipal organizations. Specifically, the focus will be on management, budgeting, and operations, with emphasis on accountability, transparency, and the professional public service.

BUS4550 Sustainable Tourism Development

This course critically examines sustainable and responsible tourism development practices at both the micro and macro levels of the industry. Case study analysis is an integral component of the course. A major focus will be on benefits and impacts associated with tourism development, as well as the strategies for maximizing benefits and minimizing adverse effects.

Graduate Programs:

The Faculty of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a sessional instructor to teach half of a course in the MBA in Global Leadership in the Winter 2022 Semester.

BUS 7950 Special Topics: Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (In-person)

As guests on indigenous lands, business leaders have a responsibility to ensure that they and their organizations do their part towards a more just and inclusive society. This course will examine the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s 94 Calls to Action and the 231 Calls to Justice and will explore how business leaders can meet their moral obligations and simultaneously strengthen their organizations. In addition, this course equips students to be leaders who create and leverage diverse and inclusive environments for everyone associated with their organizations. The course explores expanding traditional definitions of Diversity and Inclusion, increasing emotional intelligence, and the emotional implications of leading in a globally diverse environment.

This course will be co-taught by a full-time Indigenous faculty-member and the successful applicant for this sessional position. The full-time faculty-member and sessional instructor will share how specific changes can lead to Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. It is expected that each of the two instructors will teach 50% of the classes.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate courses: Successful applicants will have a minimum of a master's level degree or equivalent with a combination of qualifications and experience. 

Graduate courses: Successful applicants will have a strong combination of qualifications and experience. Minimum educational credentials include a PhD and/or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline. For accounting courses, a CPA designation also counts as an appropriate educational credential. In addition, advanced senior management experience in the course topic is preferred and is a requirement for applicants without a PhD. Prior teaching experience, and knowledge and familiarity with “Evidence-based Management” principles will be considered assets.
