The Chemistry Department seeks applications for graduate laboratory instructors for an accelerated first year chemistry lab. Different experiments will be held daily over a two week period consisting of both face to face and virtual/online lab components.                                             

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lab instructors will:

  • Act as supervisor of undergraduate students providing pre-lab instruction and guidance as they complete required lab work in both face to face and virtual laboratories
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures  
  • Ensure chemicals, solutions and equipment are used safely
  • Be responsible for marking lab reports and notebooks and submitting marks to course instructor

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful applicants will:

  • Have successfully completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or a related field
  • Be enrolled in the UPEI MMS graduate program
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Have experience with Moodle, Stemble, and Blackboard Collaborate
  • Be available for face to face lab instruction at UPEI laboratories
  • Have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions and SOP’s

Successful applicants will be required to successfully complete an on-line WHIMIS course and attend a mandatory Site Safety Training session prior to the first lab session.

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
