The Robertson Library is seeking applications for qualified individuals to work under the general direction of the Digital Initiatives Librarian. Hours will be daytime, Monday-Friday.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will work with library staff on a variety of tasks:

  • Digitize a range of information artifacts using a variety of scanning and photographic equipment and image processing software
  • Prepare basic metadata about the items scanned
  • Ensure that scans and data meet quality standards
  • Work on other quality assurance tasks
  • Load content into the Library’s digital asset management system
  • Assist with other tasks in the Digitization Lab as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Google Apps (eg. Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc..), both PC and Mac operating systems and experience with image editing software
  • Experience using scanners and/or photographic equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive work while ensuring careful attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and handle fragile material with care

Qualifications that would be considered an asset:

  • Experience with web-based content management systems like Drupal or WordPress
  • Knowledge of the Islandora Digital Asset Management System
  • Experience tracking work using project management software
  • Experience working in an academic library

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
