The Department of Student Affairs at UPEI invites applications to fill a student development position to support students in a hybrid mode of service delivery.  Reporting to the Coordinator of Pathways to Academic Success, the PAS Facilitator will work with students at both the undergraduate and graduate level to support student success on campus. This position is twofold: providing academic coaching and advising to students in both an individual and group setting; and coordinating the UPEI Campus Life Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet with students one on one in person or online to develop effective study skills and strategies including, but not limited to, time management, effective reading and note taking, presentation skills, etc.
  • Present to campus groups both through video and in person on academic support themes
  • Have an understanding of current post-secondary student challenges/issues, especially when considering online pedegogy.
  • Make effective referrals to on campus resources including Accessibility Services and Counselling Services
  • Hire student staff and oversee the UPEI Campus Life Program
  • Support student staff in providing student life programing for the campus both in person and online
  • Be an ambassador for Student Affairs on and off campus and attend events to support student success including NSO, class and residence visits.
  • Some evening and weekend hours will be required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education (or equivalent) and at least 3 years of experience working with students at the post-secondary level. Master’s degree an asset
  • Experience with online program development and student engagement in student life programming: both social and academic
  • An understanding of the roles of accessibility services, counselling services, and residence life on a post-secondary campus
  • Experience teaching or facilitating programs on time management, organization and other executive functioning skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of learning disabilities
  • Effective time management skills - Ability to prioritize and organize work
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills. Strong public speaking skills
  • Supervisory experience is an asset
