Sessional Instructors - Department of Biology - Faculty of Science (Winter 2022)
The Department of Biology at the University of Prince Edward Island has openings for Sessional Instructors during the Winter 2022 semester, subject to final budgetary approval. Individuals qualified to teach the following course are encouraged to apply.
BIO – 1020 – Human Health (ON-LINE)
An introductory course dealing with the structure and function of the human body as the biological foundation of human health and disease. Course topics will include a survey of human organ systems and prevalent diseases of the adult human, introducing concepts of disease prevention and wellness. Three hours lecture a week.
BIO 1320 – Organisms and Their Environment (Lectures: MWF 11:30 – 12:20) (IN PERSON)
Note: The Sessional lecturer will not be responsible for teaching the lab component
This course provides an introduction to the science of Biology, with emphasis on organismal biology and unifying themes. The course deals with evolution, the diversity of life, form and function, and ecology. Laboratories reinforce concepts introduced in lectures. Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory a week.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold an M.Sc. or Ph.D. Documented experience teaching is preferred.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster, and to those with experience in teaching university level courses.
Salary:
As per Sessional Instructor Stipends outlined in the Collective Agreement of the UPEI Faculty Association, Bargaining Unit #1
