Dr. Bill Whelan is seeking one research assistant to work on a project using optical spectroscopy methods to evaluate a novel optical microfluidics system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Measure the optical reflection and transmission through a microfluidics device
• Measure and characterize the optical emission from a LED based microfluidics device
• Analyze the collected optical data to determine optimal operational characteristics of a microfluidics device

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Successful candidate will have completed at least three years of an undergraduate physics program
• Experience setting up and running physics experiments
• Experience using optical systems including lasers, optical detectors and fiber-optics
• Experience analyzing optical/physics data including uncertainty analysis
• Ability to work independently

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
