This competition will be used to staff both the Spring and Summer programs. Fewer positions are available for the Spring session.  Full term instructors will be hired for the period of May 26, 2021 to August 13, 2021 (12-week session). Additional positions will be added for the Summer Program July 7, 2021 – August 13, 2021

Two Explore Programs will be offered fully online in 2021 for Canadian and International students. A spring online program for those 19 years of age and older and a summer online program for those of 16 – 17 years of age.  Participants have formal online EAL lessons weekday mornings and organized online socio-cultural activities during weekday afternoons with optional evenings and weekend activities.  EAL Instructors are responsible for the planning and delivery of daily online lessons, and the organization of one or more three hour online academic workshops each week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructors report directly to the Academic Coordinator and are responsible for:

  • Online EAL instruction
  • Online Course design            
  • Curriculum evaluation and revision
  • Facilitation of weekly workshops and extra-help sessions
  • Formative and Summative evaluations of student achievement
  • Participation in weekly staff meetings
  • Participation in a minimum of one socio-cultural activity one evening per week
  • Some evening and weekend work required in addition to regular teaching duties
  • Creating a positive learning environment
  • Other duties as assigned by the Academic Coordinator or Program Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.Ed or other degree with equivalent work experience, EAL teaching experience
  • Candidates must have proven online teaching experience and demonstrated proficiency with online teaching technologies such as Zoom and Google Meet 
  • Candidates must also have proficiency in English
  • Valid criminal record check (must include vulnerable sector check). 

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • ESL teaching certificate, Experience working in cross-cultural settings
