The Department of Health Management at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, invites applications for a four (4) month, full-time term contract position in large animal surgery at the appointment of assistant professor.

The successful applicant will join an established large animal surgery team of ACVS boarded diplomates, residents, interns, and technicians. Job duties include providing clinical and emergency surgery service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and the clinical teaching of residents, interns, and 4th year veterinary students.

Qualifications:

  • A DVM (or equivalent) degree
  • Successfully completed an ACVS or ECVS residency training program in large animal surgery
  • Demonstrated teaching ability
  • Well-developed skills of collaboration and communication
  • Eligibility for licensure with the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association

Preference will be given to candidates with diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Surgery (ACVS) or European College of Veterinary Surgery (ECVS). However, candidates who have successfully completed a surgical residency training program are encouraged to apply. This is an appropriate position for someone who wants to continue to gain clinical experience whilst studying for the specialty board exam.

The salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. This appointment is subject to budgetary approval.
