The Department of Health Management at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Large Animal Internal Medicine (LAIM) at the Assistant or Associate level, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to provision of clinical service, duties will include teaching in clinical, laboratory and didactic settings in the DVM program as well as LAIM resident/graduate student training. Minimal qualifications are a DVM degree (or equivalent), and Diplomate status or successful completion of a residency approved by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or relevant specialty (i.e. ECEIM) with the expectation of achieving Diplomate status. A postgraduate degree is strongly desired. The applicant must be eligible for licensure by the Prince Edward Island Veterinary Medical Association. The LAIM caseload consists of horses (~75%) and food animals (~25%). There is also growing opportunity for a candidate that has interest in small ruminant and companion livestock medicine. Our LAIM service has strong collaborative interactions with other large animal disciplines to optimize student teaching, patient care and client satisfaction. The successful applicant will share teaching, clinical and emergency duties with two other LAIM faculty members. To be successful the applicant must be an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher and have a strong interest in clinical service and/or scholarly activity. The breakdown between time dedicated to clinical service and scholarly activity may be adjusted to dovetail with the strengths or interest of the successful candidate.

Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience.  Full-time faculty receive a comprehensive fringe benefits package, with benefit details provided at time of offer in accordance with the university’s collective agreement. This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.
