The University of Prince Edward Island, Faculty of Nursing invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. We are seeking candidates who are interested in joining a vibrant academic community with a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship and research, and strong linkages to community researchers and practitioners. Our undergraduate and graduate programs are founded on a philosophy of Primary Health Care. Our undergraduate programs include a four-year BScN program and a 23 months Accelerated BScN program for students with a previous undergraduate degree. Our Masters of Nursing program offers two streams (Thesis and Nurse Practitioner). The position responsibilities could include teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The successful candidates will have:

  • A graduate degree in nursing, a completed doctoral degree or significant progress towards a doctoral degree
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, strong evidence of research and scholarly work
  • Expertise in the specialized area of adult acute medical surgical nursing in the context of Primary Health Care and across the continuum of care 
  • Demonstrated commitment to the advancement of the nursing profession, knowledge of current health practice and issues, as well as emerging practice trends
  • Eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Prince Edward Island

Experience with or interest in the health of indigenous populations is welcome. A Nurse Practitioner designation would be an asset
