The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is seeking applications from qualified individuals to provide timely and efficient Research Accounting support for the UPEI Financial Services Office.  This position will report to the Assistant Manager - Research & External Receivables.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors accounts for funding availability and contract compliance
  • Reviews budgets and expenditures, and monitors expenditures against budgets
  • Reconciliation and analysis of research account balances
  • Prepares financial reports required by various funding agencies.
  • Assists in coordination of audit requests
  • Monitors research accounts receivable, including invoicing & collections.
  • Responds to Researchers, UPEI staff and external funding agency requests
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business degree with concentration in accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • Experience in budgeting and financial claim preparation would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of ethical standards of integrity, fairness and confidentiality
  • Proven record of providing exceptional customer service
  • Excellent professional, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detailed knowledge and experience working with computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets and database query programs
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Experience working in a University or similar environment is an asset
