Sessional Instructors- School of Climate Change and Adaptation (Winter 2022)
The School of Climate Change and Adaptation at the University of Prince Edward Island has openings for sessional instructors to teach courses in the Bachelor of Science program in Applied Climate Change and Adaptation in Winter 2022. These positions are subject to final budgetary approval. Please note: these courses are expected to be delivered in person in the St Peter’s Bay Campus.
ACC 3050 - Renewable Energy and Clean Technologies
This course examines sustainability theory and green technology, beginning with an examination of the historical context for the physical, environmental, technological, economic and political aspects of traditional energy systems and energy transitions. Students will then be introduced to different types of renewable energy technology and how they can work as a replacement for conventional technologies.
Qualifications: Successful applicants will have a minimum of a master's level degree or equivalent with a combination of qualifications and experience. Prior experience (at least 2 years) in renewable energy research is required to teach this course.
ACC 3140 - Carbon Pricing Mechanisms and Business Risk Assessments
This interdisciplinary course will provide an understanding of business in the era of climate change by examining the implementation of carbon pricing systems and the need for adaptation measures to address the changing physical and regulatory environments. Specialized activities will focus on the critical role of understanding climate change in business risk assessment using a business sector of each student’s choice.
Qualifications: Successful applicants will have a minimum of a master's level degree or equivalent with a combination of qualifications and experience. A certificate in carbon accounting from the Canadian Standards Association is required to teach this course.
