The mandate of the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) unit is to expand the range of experiential and work-integrated learning opportunities for UPEI students. Working closely with Career Services, Co-operative Education and other members of the WIL team, the primary responsibility of the Events Coordinator will be to lead and support various events and activities of the unit, such as the annual Career Fair, volunteer events/activities, employer information sessions, workshops etc. The ultimate goal of the unit is to support students’ successful transition to career or graduate studies through the development of transferable skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and coordinate the annual UPEI Career Fair, various volunteer events and activities, employer information sessions, departmental events etc.
  • Recruit volunteers and direct staff for the day of event tasks
  • Maintain planning checklists, records, contact lists, feedback from events for future offerings
  • Prepare operational plans for approval
  • Identify resources necessary for events and accurately forecasting expenditures
  • Assist in raising awareness of the various events being planned
  • Communicate and network with partners via a role-based email account with professionalism, timeliness
  • Assist in the creation and circulation of evaluation surveys for various events and activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An undergraduate degree with demonstrated experience in project management
  • 2-4 years of experience in event planning/organization
  • Demonstrated initiative in planning and organizing events and activities
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A high level of professionalism
  • Experience working in an educational or similar setting would be considered an asset
