The Department of Facilities Management invites applications for the full-time position of Assistant Manager Administration and Facilities. This position will report to the Operations Manager of Facilities Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of administrative services and security services division in Facilities Management
  • Direct fire safety inspections, supervise drills and report code violations and hazards
  • Participate in staff selection and recruitment as required
  • Coordinate training and orientation for the department
  • Assist with development and administration of departmental policies and procedure
  • In consultation with Human Resources provide advice to the departmental management team on HR, payroll, and collective agreement issues
  • Monitor and analyze departmental key performance indicators and benchmarks
  • Manage the work control centre including work order processing and room bookings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University graduate in Business Administration or related area of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of five years’ administration experience, with three years’ experience in a supervisory/management capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with a law enforcement department, security department, or military organization or an enforcement related field would be considered an strong asset
  • Strong demonstrated skills in human resources, planning, organizing, and managing employees
  • Strong human relations abilities, excellent oral and written communications skills and demonstrated leadership abilities
  • The ability to be a team leader
  • Ability to make crucial decisions in a timely manner
  • Ability to work under stressful situations
  • Be able to lead and mentor staff as a supervisor
  • Considerable knowledge of computer-related systems
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Experience in a facilities management environment would be considered an asset
