The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a sessional instructor to teach the following course in Summer 2022.

ED-4630-2 - Perspectives on Culture and Society in Education

This course introduces students to the visible and invisible impact of culture and society on education. As students develop an understanding of cultural and social perspectives in education, they examine the roles of schools in the proliferation of social and cultural norms as well as their potential as sites for change.

This is a three-semester hour course offered in English on campus to students in the Intermediate/Senior cohort of the Bachelor of Education program. This course runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, May 9 to June 16.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have a Masters of Education degree.  Successful candidates will normally have school-based experience in a Canadian public K-12 system.  For applicants without school-based experience, teaching in other contexts relevant and appropriate to the position will be considered. Applicants should have experience in teaching, research or practice related to the course content. Where courses are offered on-line using multi-media technologies, applicants will normally be able to demonstrate successful on-line teaching experience.

In all instances, qualified applicants on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the Faculty of Education will be given priority.

The offering of these courses is conditional pending final enrolment numbers. All sessional courses are subject to final budgetary and administrative approval.
