The Dean’s Office at the Atlantic Veterinary College is currently accepting applications for a part-time term position Coordinator, Special Events. This position will work with and report directly to the External Engagement Officer of the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in weekly planning meetings
  • Plan, organize, and implement a variety of AVC special events and projects, such as research announcements, AVC Vet Camp, Blue Coat Ceremony, etc.
  • Prepare and coordinate advertising related to AVC special projects and events
  • Provide on-going advice, feedback, and consultation to UPEI staff, faculty, and related groups in relation to special events planning and scheduling
  • Working with the AVC Dean’s Office team, assist in effectively communicating the goals, objectives, and developments of AVC to both internal and external audiences
  • Provide on-going support for AVC alumni relations and development activities
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communication or Business (or equivalent work experience) from a recognized educational facility, or equivalent qualifications
  • Minimum two years’ experience in event planning
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in alumni relations and development
  • Demonstrated experience in communication project management
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills, e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, web pages, social media, etc.
  • Must be energetic, creative, and able to work evenings and weekends from time to time
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
