Research Project Manager - Office of the Vice-President Academic & Research (Grant Funded)
January 2, 2019 to June 30, 2019 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements)
The Office of Vice-President Academic and Research is seeking a Research Project Manager to provide project management for several research initiatives, for example ACLC and UPEI Climate Lab. The candidate will be a professional with demonstrated skills in project management, research administration, priority setting, and time management. Reporting directly to the Vice-President Academic and Research, the ideal candidate is highly self-motivated and has demonstrated excellence in the management of complex research projects in a university or NGO setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will perform the following duties:
• Manage multiple research projects, including adhering to operational policies/procedures, target monitoring, setting priorities, assessing progress, setting time lines, managing budgets, purchasing equipment/supplies, and reporting
• Coordinate and communicate with research teams, staff, collaborators, as well as stakeholders and funding partners
• Coordinate the review of research contracts with the funders and university staff
• Assist with the development of funding applications and manage the award acceptance process
• Oversee the development and tracking of research compliance applications and amendments
• Manage personnel requirements for research staff; eg, participate in the recruitment processes and liaise with appropriate resources for personnel issues
• Coordinate internal and external research communications with UPEI Communications and other media
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Applicants will hold an undergraduate degree and have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience managing multi-partner research projects
• Knowledge of UPEI processes, systems, and regulations will be considered an asset
• Relevant experience managing complex research projects and research grant applications
• Demonstrated experience in financial management of research budgets
• Experience working with university, government, and community agencies in a collaborative, collegial manner
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
