The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island has openings for a sessional instructor to teach the following course in Summer 2021.

ED-4060-3  COMPRENDE LA SANTE SOCIALE ET EMOTIONNELLE CHEZ LES ELEVES

This course will examine the responsibilities of teachers in supporting the mental health of K-12 learners in the contemporary contexts of family, peers, school, work, and the media. Emphasis is placed on challenges such as low self-esteem, difficult emotions, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, bullying, self-injury, and suicide.

This is a three semester-hour course offered in French in a hybrid format (which will include on-campus classes) to students in the Intermediate/Senior cohort of our Bachelor of Education (français langue seconde) program, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30am to 2:20pm from June 3 to July 9, 2021.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have a Masters of Education degree.  Successful candidates will normally have school-based experience in a Canadian public K-12 system.  For applicants without school-based experience, teaching in other contexts relevant and appropriate to the position will be considered. Where courses are offered on-line using multi-media technologies, applicants will normally be able to demonstrate successful on-line teaching experience.  Candidates who do not have previous online teaching experience must be open to and willing to do extra training for this delivery model, and without additional compensation.

In addition, candidates applying to teach graduate courses will normally have established expertise, and successful leadership and/or teaching experience in a context related to the foci of the cohort.

In all instances, qualified applicants on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the Faculty of Education will be given priority.

THE OFFERING OF THESE COURSES IS CONDITIONAL PENDING FINAL ENROLMENT NUMBERS.   ALL SESSIONAL COURSES ARE SUBJECT TO THE FINAL BUDGETARY AND ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL.
