Lab demonstrators $12.25 plus 4% vacation pay

Tutors $15.43 plus 4% vacation pay

Lab Instructors $19.32 plus 4% vacation pay

The Biology Department invites applications from junior and senior students as well as graduate students interested in demonstrating, marking or instructing in laboratories for following Biology courses:

Winter Semester:  Human Physiology (Bio 1220), Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy (Bio 3240), Animal Behaviour (Bio 3350), Evolutionary Biology (Bio 3820) and other courses as the need arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Could include setup/dismantling, demonstrating, assisting or instructing in the lab, conducting tutorials, and the marking of exams and assignments
  • The successful applicants will be required to participate on a weekly basis for the duration of the fall and/or winter semester (3-4 hrs./ lab/week)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants must possess good communication skills
  • Be WHMIS trained prior to working in the laboratory
  • Have knowledge of the laboratory material and an acceptable academic record (min.2.7 GPA)

4) All students interested in working in the lab must be WHMIS trained. The WHMIS course is available online (see the Human Resources web site)

Please note: students that were employed in the fall semester do not need to reapply as they will also be considered for these positions.

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
