UPEI requires an experienced Manager to manage development, deployment and optimization of information technology solutions across the campus. The foundation of the technology ecosystem is built on the Ellucian Colleague platform with a series of solutions supporting the university’s teaching and learning, research and administration systems, with a variety of  Information systems, and to provide project management leadership in support of other strategic initiatives across the university.

Reporting to the CIO, this role provides leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for all aspects of UPEI IT. Working collaboratively with members of ITSS as well as the campus community, this role is responsible for delivering innovative and sustainable IT systems and solutions to UPEI in support of its strategic plan. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working as part of the IT Leadership  Team, the  manager accomplishes operational objectives by planning, executing, and optimizing IT solutions.

Manager duties include the following:

  • Confirm  scope, goals and deliverables that support technology enablement to meet university's goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Liaise with identified stakeholders on an ongoing basis
  • Develop SMART goals and metrics for the deployment and optimization of client facing solutions
  • Set and continually manage goals and objectives of team members and other stakeholders
  • Cooperatively plan, schedule, track, and manage timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas across the service portfolio
  • Create and deliver operational plans for their area of responsibility through consultation with the CIO and members of the campus community
  • Lead continuous improvement activities within ITSS and across the campus
  • Develop policies, processes, and practices for project execution and management of client facing solutions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree or college diploma in the field of Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and work experience 
  • Certifications in process improvement, Lean Six Sigma, and /or Leading Change would be considered an asset
  • Experience with implementing an ERP system (specifically Ellucian’s Colleague Student Information System) within a post-secondary institution would be considered an asset
  • 5 years of project management in a large-scale IT environment
  • Demonstrated experience in leading change and change management
  • Familiar with programming languages, including C++, SQL Query, Java., database and operating systems utilizing MS SQL, SQL Server, MS SharePoint, Business Objects
  • Competent and proficient understanding of platforms, such as Ellucian’s Colleague
  • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management
  • Technically competent with various software programs, such as Google Docs, MS Project, Process Modeling
