Working as part of the ITSS Team, the Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will complement our campus wide, service oriented department. In conjunction with activities associated with our current transformational project, the BI Analyst will be a key contributor to the development and on-going evolution of operational metrics, designing and supporting end user BI related solutions, contributing to data governance activities, and monitoring data standards compliance to ensure data integrity. The Business Intelligence Analyst will be a part of the Academic, Research, and Administrative Solutions Team reporting to the Solutions Architect.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assess and pilot long-term BI related solutions in conjunction with end users, senior management, and other stakeholders
• Provide recommendations on reporting solutions based on process and platform needs
• Assist in the evolution of data management policies and procedures
• Provide knowledgeable consultation and guidance by working with the campus community to understand informational needs
• Analyze user requirements and, based on findings, design functional specifications for BI front-end solutions
• Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments
• Provide information that contributes to data-driven decision making by producing and presenting easy-to-understand, audience appropriate reports
• Work with application staff to coordinate the creation and management of data queries
• Design and deliver end-user training and training materials and provide
technical support as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Management or Business Administration or at least 3 to 5 years related work experience
• 2+ years progressive experience in report writing and/or data analytics
• Demonstrative excellence in critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Proficiency in database concepts (e.g. SQL) and the ability to develop analytical database queries
• Ability to analyze complex data and provide both narrative and statistical deliverables
• Extensive experience with reporting tools (e.g. SAP Business Objects) is required
• Experience with Ellucian Colleague would be considered an asset
• Knowledge of, and experience with, data warehousing concepts and tools would be considered an asset
• Must be able to use various software applications (MS Office, Google Apps, MS SharePoint)
• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical collaborators
• Ability to clearly define business and system requirements
• Customer service skills is a requirement
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
