The Department of Applied Human Sciences working with the Faculty of Education is looking for up to two student research assistants to conduct a  Prince Edward Island literacy and numeracy needs assessment for children ages 0 to 8.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct a literature review related to literacy and numeracy programming
  • Conduct focus groups, interviews with various PEI organizations who are currently working to support literacy and numeracy
  • Organize a Province-wide symposium on Children’s Literacy and Numeracy
  • Create an online survey to collect data on Children’s Literacy and Numeracy
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data collected
  • Write a report outlining current good practice that may be able to be enhance, and identify gaps
  • Use Statistical Analysis Software to analyze early childhood data.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful candidate will be enrolled in a graduate program at UPEI
  • Previous experience as a research assistant is an asset
  • Excellent writing/editing skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Quantitative data analysis skills is an asset
