The Centre for Health and Community Research (CHCR) at the University of Prince Edward Island seeks applications for the position of Research Coordinator. The CHCR works closely with researchers and stakeholders from UPEI, and other maritime universities, governments, and health authorities on projects aiming to improve the health and well being of Islanders and Island communities. Reporting to the Research Manager of the CHCR, the Research Coordinator will contribute to the completion of various research projects underway at the CHCR, including an evaluation of an innovative new substance abuse therapy, Computer Based Training for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT4CBT).

The successful candidate will be an experienced qualitative researcher.  The preferred candidate will have experience conducting research with youth, in the field of mental health and addictions, and working collaboratively with community stakeholders within a research context.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare research ethics board applications
  • Assist with the development of research projects and evaluation frameworks
  • Develop qualitative research protocols (e.g., interview and focus group guides)
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Perform qualitative data collection (e.g., interviews, focus groups)
  • Perform qualitative data analysis using NVivo software
  • Liaise with stakeholders and collect feedback on the implementation and effectiveness of CBT4CBT and Mobile Integrated Health programs
  • Coordinate all aspects of the CBT4CBT evaluation (e.g., provide licenses to stakeholders, respond to questions from providers or patients, etc.)
  • Contribute to the development of reports, manuscripts, conference presentations and research grant applications.
  • Coordinate and participate in patient engagement activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate degree in health, social sciences or a related discipline, or a Bachelor’s degree with significant related work experience (minimum 3 years working in a research setting)
  • Experience conducting qualitative research including qualitative data collection and analysis (minimum 3 years)
  • Ability to complete research tasks independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience working with community stakeholders within a research context
  • Experience using NVivo analysis software would be considered a strong asset
  • Experience working with Indigenous populations would be considered a strong asset
  • Experience assisting with research grant writing would be considered a strong asset
  • Experience conducting research with youth would be considered a strong asset
