The Robertson Library is seeking applicants to work with the Library's Open Educational Resource (OER) Development Program (https://library.upei.ca/OERProgram) . Reporting to the Health Sciences and Scholarly Communications Librarian, the successful candidate will provide support to educators in the creation, adaptation, adoption, and review of open education resources (OERs). The applicant will be expected to demonstrate good communication ability, sound judgement, flexibility, and initiative.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meeting with educators to discuss OER projects and continued online or in person (per Public Health guidelines) communication with project leaders
  • Assisting educators with existing and new OER creation/adoption through technical and editorial support
  • Assisting with the OER Textbook Champions initiative (https://library.upei.ca/textbook-champions)
  • Collecting data about OER projects in support of program assessment and external reporting

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Writing and/or copy-editing skills
  • Organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Motivated and flexible in self-directed and collaborative environments
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, such as basic HTML or Wordpress

ASSETS:

  • Knowledge or interest in open educational resources and their importance in University would be considered an asset
  • Competency, or ability to gain competency with training provided, with a variety of online systems, such as Wordpress, Pressbooks, Drupal, Latex, or HSP would be considered an asset

To be eligible to apply students must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (Note: Non-Canadian students or graduates holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible.); be legally entitled to work in Canada; be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment; are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment; will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) during the Young Canada Works (YCW) work assignment; have been a full-time high school, college, CEGEP or university student (as defined by their educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment; and intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW work assignment; and be registered in the YCW online candidate inventory.

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.
