The Department of Biomedical Sciences invites applications for a full-time term position responsible for the refinement, conduct and analysis of neurobehavioural, neurophysiological and immunohistological testing protocols as part of an international, multi-centre project to explore and define acoustic deficits in a novel rodent model of autism.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducting and troubleshooting neuro-behavioral and immunohistological experiments
• Data analysis
• Developing standard operating procedure on the use of various neuro-behavioural software/equipment;
• Assisting with student research projects
• Inventory and ordering

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The successful candidate will have a university-level degree in a neuroscience related field and demonstrable experience in laboratory-based rodent neuro-behavioural and immunohistological techniques
• Thorough knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of neuro-behavioral testing is essential, with a focus on tests for auditory and cognitive function 
• Familiarity with relevant video-tracking software, ultrasonic vocalization software and statistical software appropriate to the collection and analysis of socially relevant vocalizations in the rat is a must 
• Demonstrated ability to work collegially and effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment with minimal supervision is also necessary
• A history of training and overseeing research students in rodent husbandry and testing is a definite asset
• Additional relevant education and/or experience is an asset
