The Dean’s Office at the Atlantic Veterinary College is currently accepting applications for a full-time Finance & Planning Officer for a term appointment.  This position reports to the Dean of the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) and works collaboratively with and under the guidance of the University Comptroller.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Comptroller’s Office to provide financial and business planning to the Dean of the AVC in the preparation and management of the AVC budgeting processes
  • Prepare and review budget reports
  • Assist in the development of new budgets
  • In consultation with the Dean and Comptroller, ensure that AVC budgets are properly administered
  • Prepare salary and budget projections
  • Prepare various financial reconciliations
  • Maintain relationships with and provide financial guidance to the Dean of AVC, management and other members of the AVC community regarding their operating budgets and business planning
  • Prepare financial analysis and reports with attention to details and deadlines
  • Prepare account analysis and reconciliations
  • Prepare revenue and expenditure reports
  • Prepare various internal and external reports and statistics
  • Provide support to the multi-million-dollar service units at AVC in the development of various types of business plans related to revenue generating and program delivery opportunities for these units
  • Other duties related to the business activities of the AVC

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business with a concentration in accounting. A professional designation would be an asset, but is not required
  • Minimum of two years of accounting experience
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience in working with computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets, and database software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – verbal and written
