Contract:

The Faculty of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) invites applications for a three-year term for an Assistant Professor or Lecturer of Accounting position, beginning July 1, 2022. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a member of the faculty team and be expected to balance rigorous service contributions and undergraduate-level teaching. The preferred candidate for this appointment will hold at a minimum a Canadian Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation. We would also like the candidate to demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching. Our program is a highly focused student centric program that allows graduates entry into the Canadian CPA Program. The Faculty of Business has had a great success rate for graduates writing and passing the Common Final Exam (CFE).

Candidates should be able to teach undergraduate courses in financial accounting, including introductory, intermediate, and advanced level courses in our proposed Accounting Major. Experience and/or interest in data analytics and artificial intelligence as it relates to the accounting profession would also be considered a major asset.

The UPEI Faculty of Business has emphasized evidence-based management in teaching and scholarship; candidates who can contribute to that focus are encouraged to apply. In addition, our faculty values candidates with both strong academic qualifications and professional experience in an applied setting.

UPEI is recognized as a leading, innovative centre of excellence in learning, teaching, scholarship, and research. While it is strongly connected to the vibrant social and cultural environment of Prince Edward Island, it enjoys a reputation that extends far beyond the Island’s shores.

The University is in the provincial capital of Charlottetown, a bustling tourist destination that boasts the amenities of a much larger city, including excellent theatre, galleries, music, and dining possibilities. A province-wide hiking and biking trail runs right along the UPEI campus, and the National Park beaches and world-famous golf courses are a short drive away. Charlottetown and its surrounding communities offer charming housing options, a low crime rate, and a semi-rural lifestyle that is second-to-none.

Start Date:  July 1, 2022

Application Instructions:

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and teaching dossier (e.g., teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations, previous syllabi). Candidates should also arrange for three letters of reference to be sent directly to the address below. Electronic submissions are encouraged.
