The Island Studies Program in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a Sessional Instructor to teach IST 6210 – Theory and Practice of Island Research I – Summer 2020. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

IST 6210:  Theory and Practice of Island Research I

This course provides students with an opportunity to develop, integrate and apply their knowledge of island issues and theory in a specific focus area. Students will be involved in practical experiences with private, public or non-governmental organizations that deal with island issues. In-class discussions and online forums will assist students in developing an interdisciplinary and integrated approach to analysing these experiences.

The successful applicant should have a minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or area of study, preferably in Adult Education or a cognate field. Experience in developing and delivering experiential learning curricula and other materials is required.  Experience interacting with placement organizations, working in a university setting, knowledge of the research process and of island studies is preferred.

Preference will be given to qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the academic unit
